Book Signing at St. Mary’s University, San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – John Quiñones, a San Antonio native, has achieved some pretty extraordinary things since graduating from St. Mary’s University: from ABC correspondent for 20/20 to anchor for What Would You Do and Primetime, winner of seven Emmy Awards, recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award’s Grand Prize for International reporting, and now author.

Quiñones has traveled the world reporting on hundreds of stories, but he’s chosen his alma mater, St. Mary’s University as one of the first stops on his national book tour. Quiñones will visit St. Mary’s for a reading and book signing on Thursday, Jan. 29. The book went on sale nationally Jan. 6.

“Heroes Among Us: Ordinary People, Extraordinary Choices” is a collection of stories of truly heroic individuals that Quiñones has encountered throughout his career. He calls them heroes because they made difficult choices, even in the face of danger and ultimately did the right thing without giving into fear.

Along with reporting the many stories of heroes he’s met, Quiñones also shares his own touching personal narrative of his rise from humble roots as the son of a laborer and a house cleaner to his life as a network anchor. Quiñones graduated from St. Mary’s with a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communications in 1974 and a master’s degree from the Columbia School of Journalism.
